Our Story

Pictured was created out of a love for photos and all things photo related! "Pictured" in its simplest definition is to photograph someone, to take their picture. But this verb encapsulates so much more! "Pictured" is also to visualise something, to imagine it and to conceive it. It is to capture the likeness of someone, portray them and represent them through a photograph.

At Pictured we capture families, and celebrate life and all of it's phases, through photographs. But more importantly we aim to bring photos to life. We turn photographs, which would otherwise go unnoticed in an album or computer folder, into something memorable and useful to be enjoyed in your own home or as a bespoke gift to a loved one. Our collection includes stationery, tableware, homeware, office accessories and a few fun items for children.

About Me

My name is Amrei and photography is in my genes. For as long as I can remember I've been surrounded by photos. My father had his own dark room in the 1960's and used mediums such as reversal film in the harsh conditions of Antarctica. With saved pocket money I bought my first Kodak 35mm film camera at age 12 and years later with my first bonus from my first job I graduated to the world of digital photography.

I’m actually a banker by profession with a hobby that turned into a bit of an obsession. Photography served as my creative outlet, something to do to relax from the demands of a corporate career and a useful skill when traveling the world! One photography course turned into 11 and gear accumulated to a 9kg backpack which no longer qualifies as hand luggage! I've completed a number of courses at the College of Digital Photography including: Advanced Photography, People Photography, Outdoor and Travel Photography and Lightroom Editing. I’ve also done a variety of Wedding and Lifestyle Photography Workshops and mentorship sessions.

Photography is my craft. And I am an absolute photo enthusiast! I love all things photo – I love taking photos, capturing the stories they tell, displaying and using photos in and around my home and I absolutely love using photos to create unique and memorable gifts for loved ones.

We are the most photographed generation in history yet so many beautiful photos go unused and uncelebrated in our digital era. I realised one day that despite having 87 picture frames up in my home I still had much loved photos on my computer I wished to display... so I started creating all sorts of useful items and gifts using photographs. Check out the Photo Gifts page for how these have evolved.

You'll notice from my portfolio that my photography style varies greatly, depending on what my clients have in mind. I find the challenge of bringing to life what you pictured extremely satisfying and rewarding. I shoot with a Canon Mark IV, my favourite lens is a 50mm macro, and capturing families excite me most! My preference is using natural light and photographing outdoors but I can absolutely shoot indoors or create a studio look if that is what you prefer. I favour good composition and do minimal editing to enhance images.

There are however a few things I don't do, here they are: I am not a lifestyle photographer and I don't do kids parties (other than my own kids'!). I don't blog and I don't aim to get featured!
